Budget-friendly Hotels in Tokyo

Here are some of our hotel recommendations within the Tokyo area. Some are recommended by our dear friends based on their experience as well.

If this is your first time to travel in Tokyo, you might consider booking a hotel near the convenient train stations within the “Yamanote Line” loop (ex: Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Tokyo~).

Note: You may also try renting places in Tokyo via AIRBNB. ^_^

If you have hotel suggestions you’d like to add to our list, please feel free to comment below too! : )

  1. I can also really recommend toco heritage hostel. It is located near Ueno Station, cheap and a really nice place to stay :)

  2. APA Shibuya was very disappointing, to be honest…. in Tokyo we stayed @ Tokyu Stay in yutenji meguro area and it was a pretty good size room, big double bed which was very comfy, with own washing machine, a little kitchenette, bath tub, nice just a couple of blocks away from the subway station, very well connected.
Then second time we stayed at the APA Hotel (Shibuya – Dougenzakaue) and it was quite the disappointing experience, tiny tiny room, you could hear everything that happened outside and in other rooms, more expensive (i assume its because of the area its located) tiny bed, barely a super thin pillow, bad.. bad experience…. would not reccomend at all.
Then for our last stop in Tokyo we stayed at the Granbell Shinjuku, and that was a good one as well…. very close to many shinjuku station entrances! its a fun location, and it was very very decent hotel big comfy bed.
